Like many companies worldwide, the PERI Group was faced with a new and unfamiliar situation at the beginning of 2020: Corona. With 9,400 employees across more than 220 locations and customers in over 70 countries, it was important to quickly gain an overview of the different situations worldwide in order to be able to make the right decisions in each case based on this.

Some of the key central questions were:

• Are there any Covid or quarantine cases among the workforce? If so, where and how severe are they?
• Can customers work on construction sites in different countries and regions? What restrictions are there?
• Is customer payment behaviour changing due to the crisis?
• How are the order books and the pipeline developing?

To achieve this transparency, a small team of three built a corona dashboard within a few days using Microsoft Power BI and Automate on. This continuously compiled data into decision-useful overviews – automatically and reliably.

These analyses were based on corporate data from existing reporting applications. They were specifically supplemented by a small amount of decision-relevant data on the development of the coronavirus, which was provided over defined periods or ad hoc via Microsoft Forms were queried by the local managers and were immediately available in the dashboard. Thus, the data concerning the group's corona situation was always up to date.

Duration of the project: 5 days

Using the dashboard, central and decentralised top decision-makers all had an available-at-any-time and up-to-date overview of the current corona situation. This enabled data-based decisions as well as a consistent basis for company-wide communication regarding crisis-related developments and measures.
